The purpose of the Sister Loretta Gaffney Project Grant is to provide financial support to one of our member institutions so that they may undertake a project that would otherwise be beyond their means. Sister Loretta Gaffney, RHSJ, was a founding member of CAG and a steadfast supporter of professional development for archivists.
The grant is available to any CAG member in good standing who requires assistance in acquiring supplies, specialized equipment, contract staffing, or other items to ensure the preservation and proper care of their institution’s documentary heritage.

About Sister Loretta Gaffney, RHSJ
Sister Loretta Gaffney (1920-2014) was one of the proudest members and most ardent supporters of the Catholic Archives Group. Like many CAG members, Sister Gaffney came to archives rather late in her life, after distinguishing herself in three previous careers (nursing, laboratory technology, and pastoral care) taking on the role of Provincial Archivist for the St. Joseph Province of the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph in 1978. She, nevertheless, devoted the next 30 years of her life to the archival endeavour.
